Post Project Information

The data collection aspect for the CMS/Premier Hospital Quality Incentive Demonstration Project is complete with the abstraction and submission of the 3rd quarter 2009 discharges.

HQID Alignment with the National Hospital Inpatient Quality Measures (NHIQM)

Effective with 4th quarter 2009 discharges all HQID process measures are aligned with the NHIQM specifications along with the AMI Inpatient Mortality measure.  This alignment of the specifications and measures will reduce the abstraction efforts required to provide the ongoing performance data.

Measure specifications including the measure information forms and algorithms for each aligned measure can be found at The Joint Commission website for the core measure manuals.

The following link provides a list of each HQID measure with the corresponding NHIQM measures. Measure Comparison List

Future of HQID Composite Reports

In support of current hospital activities that use the HQID comparison information, the quarterly release of the HQID Composite reports will continue.  As the healthcare environment changes, we will have ongoing assessments of the value of the HQID reports.

The HQID Composite Reports for 4th quarter 2009 and forward will be adjusted to display comparative information based on the hospitals in the project as of September 30, 2009.  As the project ended effective with the September 30, 2009 discharges, the reports will be revised to remove the payment and penalty information.

The post-project HQID Composite reports will continue to be released quarterly after the national data submissions are completed:
