National Quality Forum (NQF) quality, infection measures, & patient safety practices
The NQF endorsed national quality measures include safety (e.g., patient falls) and infection control (e.g., central line catheter-associated infection).
The most recent HAI measures National Voluntary Consensus Standards for the Reporting of Healthcare-Associated Infection Data endorsed for public reporting were published in 2008.
NQF has also endorsed a list of safety practices which include both safety (e.g., implement standardized protocols to prevent the occurrence of wrong-site procedures or wrong patient procedures) and infection control (e.g., decontaminate hands with either a hygienic hand rub or by washing with a disinfectant soap prior to and after direct contact with the patient or objects immediately around the patient).
